Possible solution to stop Gil spammers. Please Read.

Make gil so it cannot be traded OR Heavily reduce limit of gil that can be traded. (Approx 10k for now)

This is only a suggestion and is open to criticism.

    Pro's
1: Possibly stop gil spammers completely as they cannot run their business.

    Con's
1: Limits players by not being able to help friends (however this could be solved by still allowed crafting mats to be bought for friends)

Please if anyone else see's benefit in doing this or something horribly wrong with doing this please comment.

I would rather have my gil account bound that have gil spammers ruin this fantastic game.

Saying this will never do anything to fix it. Saying this has never done anything to fix gil spammers.

Unfortunately gil spamming needs to be banned through game design.

Gil spammers will always return. They keep buying new accounts. This method never works and has never worked in the past 10-12 years.

This can also easily be fixed. Set a limit on the auction for the amount of gil that EACH item can be bought for Example: (ash log: max 1000 gil) . Also there are plenty of legitimate players out there who will be asking for fair prices.

imo FFXIV: ARR has done this already. I have 100k on my main char. 25k on another. And nothing... to spend it on. >< I need seals more than gil. XD
This is also another great method but who wants worthless gil? Having gil bound to your account is no different than having tomestones bound to your account.

So...the only "solution" is the one where you blist all of the gil sellers on your server when they send you a tell and report them. You can't get rid of the problem, there's not a single mmo out there that doesn't have it. You can only diminish how often you have to be distracted by it. And, again, with how massively over populated the servers for this game are, buying new accounts isn't going to do them any good if the server you're on is full and you've blisted all of them that are already there.
The gil spammers will always return if the current method stays in place. The idea is to not make items worthless but to stop the gil spammers completely so they have NOTHING to sell. Blisting them only makes it go away for you and does not solve the problem of people buying gil. Blisting is only an illusive fix. It does not make the problem go away. Making gil and items account bound with a limit on the AH for each item does make them go away.

RMT is here to stay.. like it or not.
It is true that if no one buys gil then they won't exist but this will never happen. It is like telling people to stop taking drugs or not have underage relations in real life. Just because you say stop doesn't mean that hundreads of thousands won't keep doing it. The possibility of trading gil needs to be removed completely to stop these people running a business.

    Also consider

1: Gear cannot be sold on these websites because it is account bound.

2: Crafting mats can be bought from the auction house for gil and people will not pay real money for something they can just buy with in game gil.

If they do stop the trading of gil it will also allow them to open up more ways for gil to flow into the economy besides a few allagan pieces and low FATE rewards.

How would this stop anything? Players who wanted to buy gil could just circumvent this by having the RMT buy overpriced mats from their retainers in place of trading/mailing.

SE just need to ban these players as they see them/watch the flow of gil.
