Please add lottery spawn NMs in the future ^^

First, let me say I like the new NMs. It's great that my friends and I can go smack down a NM when we feel like it. The drop rates might not be the greatest but the pop times are short enough that it really doesn't matter.

However, there is no thrill in finding these monsters. They are up, or are usually up unless they have just been killed. One thing that always made my heart jump in FFXI was when I would be killing placeholders, and then the NM pops. Even when it's low level NMs like Jaggedy-Eared Jack, my adrenaline would start pumping between seeing it and actually claiming it.

I'm not asking for ridiculous pop times or epic loot, I just want NMs that spawn in place of the same mob type on occasion.

To summarize, I would like to see NMs that provide "the thrill of the hunt" by spawning from the same mob type.

Wouldn't that be a bit useless timesink? Sorry even when I plated ffxi for 20 hours, hunting nms were boring. All you do is sit and wait to maybe claim it. And that isn't really fun. the pop times such as ffxi was too random. Like I went 7 hours w/o seeing LL a few times and I was the only camper/ player in the area. Sorry but no thanks, not because I want "easy mode, or stuff handed to me. I just want to have fun. And waiting for nms isn't fun.

You must have been doing it wrong.

You're assuming they would be exactly the same as FFXI. If you had to kill placeholders for 30 minutes, but the drop rate was better than the always up NMs, wouldn't that system be a happy medium?

Very true, also there is nothing fun about spending hours killing a specific mob, over and over, only to have the mob be claimed by some jackass who just uses a 3rd party tool to predict when the mob will spawn, then ninja claims it, making all that effort you put into spawning the NM completely worthless. As such a scenario has happened to me before, I am against lottery spawns.

you still with the timesink? they don't have to be a big timesink you know. I don't understand you allow others to have something. I understand your a casual player not everyone like casual events. SE said they be adding casual and hardcore so matter if you like it or not it be in the game. Like i said before 100times this is not only your game others enjoy lottery spawn and 6hours NM pops just because you can't do them does not mean others can't or don't enjoy them.

By the look of it you on here 5+hours a day so you can't be a casual players if you use so much time talking here and posting on every topic that you dislike because it's not casual.

Top of that it does not have to be how FFXI did it remember this is FFXIV they can make it better then ffxi even the casual can do them without problem if they do it right.

Btw i made LL pop every 1hour and kill him 7times with was 7hours. For me that was fun the idea of a pop being up and you have to ran for it before anyone else see it. or when a nm pop you have to get it before anyone is the fun part of NM. Taking them down is boring not if there roc or serket which was pretty fun. The fun part of nm for me was camping i could sit there all day seeing tv and only have to look at my screen when the window is up. so at the end you can be doing other things and go back to it when the window opens.

I bet you did it wrong that why took for ever for LL to pop up. if you don't kill the right PH you pretty much never getting it. I only kill the PH and made LL pop every 1hour.

    I agree with this.

I think lottery spawns, done well, would be a great addition. It would solve the current problem, which is that the NMs and the equipment they drop are not "rare" or "special" in any way.

Additionally... killing the NM over and over again to get drops is no different than if you're killing it's place holder over and over again to get it to spawn, if the drop rate is increased.

I feel the same. I loved lottery NMs, they were exciting as you say. ^^
I haven't hunted XIV NMs and don't really feel like it because they don't offer that excitement. Perhaps I prefer the hunt over the spoils. I am a miqo'te, what can I say? Hunting's in my blood.
They don't have to make long spawn times.

maybe but I tried different tactics. Killing ann mobs, killing 1 mob over again. (which worked for VE, and i always picked the same mob)

As long as the lotto aint too random or too intricate I guess I wouldn't mind. (ps aint is a word in bostonian lingo :P )
I did like hunting for VE with my x. we had a 5/6 drop before that he was 3/3. ^.^ and that was subbing thf. pld/thf. ^.^
