Show chat in bubbles over people's head, Possible ?

    Hello,

I'd like to know if it's possible to show what people are saying in bubbles above their heads, like WoW ?

I miss 90% of what people say because when I play I never look at the chat window. In WoW, I can see what others are saying in dungeon groups because of the chat bubbles.

I tired looking into the settings but couldn't find anything. Is it possible to activate such a feature ?

    Thanks

The devs have commented on this. It's significantly more resource intensive to render chat boxes than populate a chat log, so they have no plans to do it in general. However, I don't know if anyone has suggested only doing it in instanced dungeons. That might be feasible. I'd submit feedback to that effect.

I mean, not that I would mind chat bubbles anywhere, even in dungeons, that isn't really going to fix your problem. As soon as their character isn't in the middle of your screen anymore, then you won't see the chat bubbles. If you are in the middle of combat, you will likely have at least half of your teammates off screen, and as you are running through the instance, pretty much the same thing. Seems like you should just pay better attention to the chat window. There shouldn't be a lot going on there unless you are part of very active and talkative linkshells or a free company. In which case you can make a separate window that JUST contains /p and /s.

I think because of the huge scale of this world game, not very likely possible with the wide range of systems that everyone uses, and the demands it would make, this is a much more detailed and demanding world resource wise than WOW or any other MMO I have seen, it takes tome time to get used to the way it all works but i have found myself noticing more of what is in the chat after quite a bit of play..so it may get easier.

I hate chat bubbles. I am much happier without them.

I would love this as well, I did not know I liked it until I used it. Currently if you walk up to a group of people and say something It's very likely that they don't even know you are speaking to them.
People do not connect that the person in front of you is the person talking in chat so they assume its not about them. Chat bubbles make it super clear who is speaking and to whom, which in many situations is superior to tells.

Wow, they really won't be adding this?

It is impossible to talk in /say, because you don't even know when someone is talking or where they are. Someone may say or ask something, and you'll spend forever scanning nearby areas looking for who spoke.

Just another QoL feature SE lacks, like an afk logout timer.

I think I found the problem.

I don't know, I don't think it's an issue. Maybe because I've never played WoW, I'm not trained to look for chat bubbles. I think if you just start looking at the log, you'll get used to it.

Maybe looking the log helps him, but talking in /say is still useless.
