Collectors edition "The Waning of the Sixth Sun"

Does anyone know why on earth this is on a blu ray? I can't watch it because of this. The game install is a DVD (Not that I need it) and I've never owned a blu ray in my life until now because I just don't need them.

Reached my post limit so the final reply is here in an edit:

Mhhm, didn't quite explain the modern medium part well. Yes it's modern, but it's not the most popular. As for the LiteOn drive people kept showing, lol. They're shit and it's read only. The cheapest I found by a half decent brand was about £45 new. Additionally if I move formats, I will use writeable discs which is why I was looking at the media.

For those saying DVD quality is too low, well that's cool. I don't mind it really myself. I don't own a PS3 yet (I played XIII on 360) (I will sometime, there are a few exclusives I do want to play) and PS4 is beyond worth its price at launch considering I'll not use it all that much, as well as not being out yet. I even went and checked out my parents HDTV recorder/player thing, it's HD but has a DVD slot not a BD slot

The get with the times vibe is way off, for those airing it. I built my PC in November and it's close to the best that was available in every catagory (A 3770k overclock based build), I skipped a BD drive because I have not used it and didn't see any likely use for it for the extra £30 it'd add onto the price.

Anyway, You all made your points, civil or not, it'll be online sooner or later or I'll lend it to a friend to rip it for me.

Last question: Anyone who has watched it, is it worth my time bothering about, does it uncover a lot of lore?

Why did the soundtrack come on a CD? I can't use it because I can only use cassettes

Seriously, it is completely normal that a modern video be stored on a modern medium. I'm sorry you don't have a blu ray player, but you can't blame SE for that.

because.... Blu-Ray is the standard disc of the current era. DVD quality is too low for movies.

It's not a modern medium, it's still fighting with DVD. Additionally the INSTALL disc is a DVD. Why split formats?

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just curious if anyone has an idea of why you'd bother putting it on bluray when a large amount of users will not have it. I went to Insomnia (A lan festival, well over 2000 PCs) the other day and I saw very very few Blu Ray drives.

They clearly understood this for install: It's a DVD.

The Cassette comparison isn't right, cassettes are no longer made (Not for releases anyway) DVDs are still made and used by the truckload.

DVD is about to be defeated.

The reason why most of the PC games are on DVD because people still don't have blu-ray reader on their PC but in the movie case, people have blu-ray player more than just a DVD player.

PCs commonly have DVD players yes, that's why the install is on DVD. But it's also common in 2013 for blu ray players to be available. I've had one for nearly 7 years. It is likely (I haven't watched it) a decent length HD video requiring an HD format, and thus, Blu ray.

If you have PS3, you could just use blu-ray on it instead. That what i did anyway.

PS3 might be too modern for them, it's only 7 years old. It's still battling PS2 you know?
