I am in full support of this. During my experiences with FFXIV, I have noticed that we were short on the ability to raise party members, so having the ability to stock Phoenix Down would be a huge help for the party, especially for parties that are doing dungeons.

I hope that FFXIV will shift its game environment mechanics and environment design to be more in line with the .hack// series, in terms of having various dungeons across Eorzea. :3

Raise and Resurrect are learned by both mages at 38, which is a fairly acceptable level. Considering that's when monsters start getting dangerous. Yes, Phoenix Down could by pass silence...but why would you let your mage be silenced? :P Not that there are really many monsters that can Silence/Amnesia you.

That's a good point though. Why craft potions if you can just level other classes for the support abilities you need? I don't necessarily think the transfer of abilities are a bad thing, as I like the idea of be being able to use what I've earned. On the other hand, I do see it as an issue of balance, and hopefully it's something they will address down the road.

So Phoenix Downs could be used the first 38 ranks you don't have raise, and the next 12 that you do in case you need to save on time, or damage an undead mob, or don't feel like changing to CON or can't because you are engaged, or you don't want to spend the MP (less of a problem than it used to be).

That would actually make it more like a traditional FF anyway, though. Phoenix Downs become pretty obsolete once you get raise in the console games too.

We'll just have to wait and see what they do with the battle system.

Make them rare and have a medicine effect like FFXI did so you can't use another one on the same person.
