Freeze/Crash & BSOD issues

As far as I know you don't have to run it separately afterwards, but you can check it from there did it work. You don't have to do it until you start playing, I only use it myself when I play this and for nothing else and also I do set it back to normal once I'm done if I still do something else. I do hope this worked for you as well as it worked for me or anyone else who might have tried.

Well so far so good, I have yet to crash and I've been going for 3+ hours ow *knock on wood*. When you say you have a shortcut on your desktop, how did you do that? Since I will be using this method to prevent crashes, I would like the easiest way to execute the command for lock speed and then revert to normal. Thanks again for all your help btw!

Just put in a new GPU... HD 7950. Now I am getting black screens after a few mins of game play. also if i turn the settings up too high there is menu lag. Once GW2 works fine, starting to doubt if my rig is the issue. all my drivers are up to date. in fact, i took my pc in to fix some driver errors because i thought it was a driver error. The tower is not turning off, so it is not my PSU. The GPU is stable, I have a TV and a 22 inch monitor off it. I suppose I could try with one monitor and see if it does the same. Mostly right now I am trying to talk this through and determine if I am going crazy or after the patch Squeenix did something.

It was in the guide, though I have more simplified ones just containing the two commands. Create the files in the install directory and make shortcuts of them to desktop.

Mine are just basically
lock.bat containing: nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,2
and
default.bat containing: nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,16

been happening the past couple days, game freezes/sometimes bsod and i have to force restart

running on a laptop with a gtx 675m

played around with nvidiaInspector a bit but couldn't get any of the -forcepstate stuff to do anything noticeable :s

Also, it would be nice if the moderator kept us appraised of the threads in which they say they're addressing. I'm content as long as I know something is being done to rectify the problem in a somewhat timely manner.

Same. As long as they update us on what they are doing, if they are, I'll be happy.
But nothing since that one post. They even ignore my ticket that I sent weeks ago.

You can add me to the list. Since the last update I cannot play for more than 2 minutes (sometimes much less) before the whole game locks up. Sometimes it will just freeze with the audio making a terrible sound others it will be a force restart. I have tried uninstalling drivers for my HD7870 to no avail, disabled and removed the HD Audio Device added by my graphics card (I read somewhere that and the Realtek device can cause conflicts) but still nothing.
Before the update I would experience a crash every now and then but now its is within a couple of minutes of getting into the game with out fail. FFXIV is the only game I have ever had problems with even back in 1.0 days.

I got a BSOD yesterday after having a huge lagspike that just affected the models, some people moving, some people not moving. Finished Dark devices - The end, got teleported to Coerthas and then BSOD. I went to sleep and when i tried again after waking up, did another fate and again the lagspikes, the sound stop working, etc. Ended up shutting down the game to not get any more screens. I think it will be unplayable until they fix this...

Well, good news!

I disabled SLI and just ran on one GTX670. I played FFXIV: ARR for just over 9 hours straight yesterday with SLI disabled, and I did not crash. Everything ran perfectly. This is the first time since the game went live I have played all day without crashing.

The only thing I noticed was my main GPU was running constantly at 98% utilization and 75C - 76C, which is still way under the 97C max operating temp for a GTX670.

When I was in SLI, the cards shared the load, so I guess it is expected that one card's load would ramp way up.

Anyway, I will run this way for the next week or so. If my system remains stable, I will swap cards to see test the other card. Ultimately, I will leave one of the cards out of my rig all together and only run one card in future builds.

I will keep you all posted.
