On Friday night I was convinced that I was going to completely miss out on Early Access, and prepared to cancel my PSN order completely, to be replaced by a rushed Amazon order of a physical copy of the game. However, after placing the Amazon order, I was made aware of the fact that Square was already actively trying to resolve my issue; I was able to cancel the Amazon order without any problems, and started waiting for my XMB message to arrive.
Now, when I placed the Amazon order, the purchase qualified me for Early Access, and among the bundle of emails I received in relation to the order was one which contained an early access code; after generating a PSN code on Square's registration site, and entering that code in PSN Account Management, I was finally able to successfully sign in to the client and download the patch. Even after cancelling the Amazon order, I have still been able to play Early Access without encountering any account-related issues since the servers went live on Saturday morning.
So what's the problem? Well, when I received my voucher code a few hours ago, and redeemed it and logged into the game, I discovered that I now have two Service Accounts associated with my Square Enix account. On "XIV 1" I have my Phase 4/Early Access character, while on "XIV 2" I have no characters at all.
In my Services List in PSN Account Management, the Early Access service now shows "Count: 2."
I'm afraid that one of those versions of Early Access (for service account "XIV 2" which has no characters) is associated with a purchased registration code that will kick in on the 27th, and the other (service account "XIV 1" which has my Phase 4/current character) is associated with a cancelled order, and will become invalid on the 27th, thus rendering the character I've been playing on inaccessible after Monday night.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a known method of transferring characters between service accounts? This situation is extremely frustrating and unpleasant; all I did was place a pre-order for the Collector's Edition of the game 2 weeks ahead of release, after having participated in Phases 3 and 4 of Beta, and now I'm faced with a scenario in which I will very likely lose the character that I've put a week's worth of work into.
When it looked like I was going to be left out in the cold on Friday night, I placed a backup order to protect myself; now it appears that I may have only made things worse.
