Greetings everyoneI am Lily Moon of Sargatanas /bow
I originally planned to bring this up again once the Lodestone was functional but due to excitement and need for player input I couldn't resist using our new Forums for this. I have been planning out for the last couple of months a series of tutorial videos for new players which contain comedy elements done with machinima to keep people watching. Well at least that's the first part of the series. I'll explain the other part near the end.
The Daily Bread (this name is still partially in the works) will be about 9 episodes along the same lines as I explained already. Informative Machinima Comedy! If anyone has seen Lorna and Pan: Fantasy Life from Nexon's Mabinogi then you have an idea of what I'm going for. My main character will serve as the tutor while a 2nd character named "Twain" will be the student. I'm still figuring out the class used in the videos for my character but Twain will be Marauder (eventually Warrior) so for the first few episodes we'll be using Limsa as the stage.
The scripts are still unwritten due to a rather annoying change in actors for Twain. Not to mention I still have to train said actor to play Marauder and write macros so he can pull off the smoother movements (and hopefully lip syncing) needed for the videos. The videos will all be voiced over (regardless if I can get the lip syncing to work the way I want) so there might be small auditions here and there to find people for the extra's parts. Oh I forgot to mention the thing about extras? Yeah there will be extras needed here and there.
As for the video order... This is what I have so far but it's been one of the most annoying things to plan out. Every time I look at the list I'm never quite satisfied with it.
EP1 - Combat
EP2 - Quests, Leves and FATEs
EP3 - Class Chance and Role Explanation
This will include how to craft, harvest and fish
EP4 - General Inventory Management
This will include Retainers and Market Boards even though by this point the character Twain won't actually have access to them yet (I think)
EP5 - General Player Interaction (Parties, Linkshell, Mog Mail)
No this will not include Free Companies yet. I feel that including them here would complicate things and since the level to create one is 25 it would be easier to explain this later.
EP6 - Transportation
This might not be a necessary episode... There's ferries absolutely everywhere too and everything seemed to have different requirements during phase 4 to the point that I was confused...
EP7 - Duty Finder (Dungeons/Instances/Guildhest)
This will contain a further explanation of party roles (Holy Trinity) as well as enmity
EP8 - Grand Company and Free Companies
EP9 - Jobs
Input on this part would be greatCall this part of my creative curse to not be satisfied with how I'm sorting things out.
As for the second part of the tutorials. A more indepth guide to each class (up to level 30) and each job (covering those last 20 levels). Why separate them? Well I found that level 30 is sort of that tipping point in a class where if you don't like it then you probably won't enjoy it. Same goes for learning to play it since Jobs are acquired at level 30 and just add in more skills to learn on top of what you already had and will have in that class. This is going to take much more time to set up as I have to level and fully learn all the classes/jobs myself. I left off 1.0 with only 3 capped out. These videos will throw most of the comedy elements out the window for a more technical focus (simple and convenient macros, combos, etc.) usually ending with a specific dungeon run to wrap everything together.
If anyone has any suggestions or questions I'm more then willing to hear em. Once the Lodestone is back online I will post most of my updates there until I have the first video to show for my work.
