FFXIV on PS4?

PS4 is finally on the way.

I wonder if FFXIV will work on it as well.. if it will be upgraded on it.. .etc. etc....
I really hope so as I know our household will have one.

They have already stated that the game can scale to future consoles but that is not something that they are looking at for the moment. At least I'm pretty sure I remember reading that

Well that's because FFXI is dated. I was surprised when they released it on XBox but I think that was an attempt to grow outward and expand their market for the future *cough* FFXIV

I'm sure a PS4 version is going to come eventually if need be, but let's wait and see if Sony does actually announce it today lol. A PS4 announcement is too predictable, so I won't be surprised if they never mention it today rofl.

They answered this before. They're focusing on ARR and XI is still a port of a PS2 game on many consoles and with the PS3 they didn't want to simply port it, so redesigning it was out of the question while they try to get this game going.

If it was stated that the PS4 can't run PS3 games emulation wise they definitely won't release it on the PS4 for a long time if at all since it first has to come out on the PS3 then they have to decide if they want to slap it on the 360 and WiiU. There's a good chance the PS4 won't sell well if it has the same crappy launch lineup as the PS3.

XI works on backwards-compatible PS3s. FFXIV very well may be compatible with the PS4, though I wouldn't expect any upgraded performance or visuals.

actually it only works on the backwards compatible ps3 as long as you download/purchase off the psn a specific program for it to be able to work properly otherwise it doesn't work at all.

I played FFXI on my ps3 though. Unless you had the backwards compatible ps3, you weren't able to play it. Since ps4 is backwards compatible through cloud storage, it's going to be playable. Better quality on the other hand, is up to Yoshi. Hopefully they don't make us wait too long.

Will probably not going to come on PS4 in coming years
when PS4 users is big, then only YoshiP will make a proper port to PS4.
