I personally wanted a new mmo and ff14 had always been a game that I wanted to get back to after 1.0 beta...

My friends told me how awful it was and I had to see it for myself. I actually played on and off until Oct. 2011 before patch 1.19 hit and from that point on I was fascinated by the newer updates that were coming our way

Why did everyone decide to play ff14?

I wanted a new MMO and since I just recently finished .hack//G.U. I wanted one that had full gamepad compatibility. And SE seemed less likely to screw it up as badly as the publisher of my previous MMO at that time.
Well, turned out I was wrong lol. Though the game did improve a lot in the last year, which made me come back to the game and play till the end.
