"Guild behest" sounds even clunkier...
I don't see the issue, I actually don't mind it. Besides, it's just a name! Worst comes to the worst; pretend the 'h' is silent.

Sakaguchi must be rolling over in his grave over this comment...
*A man in a plain suit walks in and hands Yru a piece of paper, which he reads.*
Sakaguchi is still alive!? When did this happen?
J/k, I miss Sakaguchi, and I like what he's doing at Mistwalker. I hope he still has some pride in FF left.
At this point, I think the name is pleasantly ironic. Square was having money issues and the main planner for the game basically said if it performed poorly (which in all statistical probability, it could have) he was going to throw in the towel and go back to school. Instead, it was a runaway success and now we have XIV+ volumes of it. It still is the Final fantasy, it just has many chapters.
This very same man would later go on to make his own company and design a new end-all fantasy game called The Last Story, which is either a great homage or a huge middle finger; I'm not really sure of the politics.
But back on topic, I've found that if you keep saying Guildhest in your head until it stops sounding like a word anymore, your brain starts to accept that it's not a portmanteau.

I still think we should just keep "behest," though. I understand it's different and might confuse people the first time they try it, but won't they just be like, "Hey, errybodeh! Behest changed!"
EDIT: Is that the point? Because change makes the forums permanently angry, but they only hate new content for as long as it takes them to get sick of seeing new threads about it?

I think Guildquest would be okay.
I think "Guildleve kinda sorta but not really" is a better name
It doesn't matter to me, Guildhest it is then.
hest [hɛst]
n
an archaic word for behest
[Old English hǣs; related to hātan to promise, command] [source]
Its a way of shortening the term. Its still technically a valid way to say it.
