I could care less if they toss the original music, which i'm betting they do. As long as i don't hear any squealing guitars where it doesn't belong i'm good. So far the new music we've heard, I have loved.

I love Nobuo, but XIV's soundtrack was so disconnected, short, and repetitive, it was pretty obvious (and even somewhat stated) that Nobuo wasn't really inspired by the project. He had little/no feedback on it either. It wasn't like in FF7's days where he was working with everyone else, getting a feel for the game.
That said, I very much look forward to what SOKEN and Co. have in store for us. Their take on Garuda was some of the best boss music I'd heard in a while from SE.
It's kind of an unfair comparison..but I guess that would happen given the circumstances.
Nobuo had some 82 tracks written before the Alpha version of 1.0 was even out (as evident by the music files released from that version). He had to go off concept art and pretty much everything was hush-hush.
Soken on the other hand, has had intimate knowledge of the lore and the ideas behind many things, and has been privy to the info of 2.0 since its decision to relaunch.
So to say that Uematsu was "uninspired", is not really accurate. He worked with what he had. Does the music sound unconnected in some places? Definitely. But I blame that more on Tanaka (lolz) than Uematsu's writing skill. Uematsu DID compose "Answers", since he had working lyrics and an idea of what it meant. Of course, the song is successful

Conversely, it is entirely accurate to say Uematsu was "uninspired" because the relevant sources of inspiration did not exist. So to say that Uematsu was "uninspired", is not really accurate. Just a different take on a simmilar opinion.
I suppose that's a different way of looking at it. >.>

I am not impressed with that i have heard in the new OST, very bland.
Yoshi said he wanted to make 14 more FF. So what does he do? Removes all/most of the music from the man who helped define FF.
Soken and his team did an amazing job so far, the music totally fits to what you see.
Vilhem is right with what she says, Uematsu-san did the best he could
while not having a single zone to look at.
From that point of view, he did a really good job imo.
I'm so eager to hear more from ARR I can't even tell!
Yeah, I totally agree... Soken and the sound crew really made the ambience of Gridania synch very well... the music in the new cutscene is also great. Now eagerly anticipating the sounds of Limsa, La Noscea, Thanalan and ul'Dah

I think they mentioned having jukeboxes in the houses so you can listen to whatever you want.
