That doesn't mean it's more popular. It means it has a publisher willing to pump a lot in it. Just to make an example the SAO light novel series was the top selling this year in Japan. .Hack has been rather popular, but never broke any records that I know of.

I think I need to borrow this from Genz:
Off Topic: I don't really take a liking to SAO as much as I did with .hack or now Ixion Saga DT. I am the same way with every fad. Take Paramore for example. The music I love, but I wouldn't call myself a big fan because it's a stupid fad and everyone else listens to it, so I started listening to Silversun Pickups. lol
On Topic: After the SAO fad dies in a fire, a new fad will begin, possibly even worse than MLP or SAO and will spread in-game even. My body is not ready..
I don't think SAO "should" have inspired online gaming, unless people take up that kind of romance or just are interested in the references to online gaming it has. I dunno though, SAO is just, x-x...

Lets leave the SAO vs .hack topic out of this <.< They were both from different generations

I agree, we should leave these games out of any topic until advanced technology allows us to play games like these. Ex. Virtual Reality. I want to feel an arrow pierce through my body, because i'm a masochist.
