New Player's Poll (Can we have it?)

It has been a good few months since we've had a player's poll from Yoshi & the Development team. It seems when a player's poll is put out and answered by its active final fantasy XIV players. Our suggestions & concerns are SE's highest priority in meeting our likes and dislikes, through the questions asked by the SE teams & questions taking from the player community. When 1.0 came to close producer's letter went live & limited questions were asked from the FFXIV community players & answers were given. Another player's poll should've also be put up as well, asking us questions like under these topics.

"How did you (the player) like the ending to 1.0?"
"What would you (the player) like to see different in 2.0?"
"How Global Alpha/Beta should be distributed?
"How many servers should we test between Alpha & Beta?"
"Which next New Classes/Jobs would you like added into 2.0 (from a narrowed down list)?" (aside from us already knowing Arcanist/summoner is being added but along side it.)

This topic is simply a petition for another player's poll & feedback for the Community Team, Development Team, Director & CEO. Now I ask you (the player).

What would you like from and out of a new player's poll?

You seem to be under the impression that players should make absolutely every decision about the game. I hope that is not the case because you would be dead wrong.

They already asked us questions regarding what we would like to see in 2.0. And they already asked us what class we would like to see. That is why we are getting summoner in the first place.

It is also not the players' business how SE handles their testing phases, nor do players have even the slightest clue about how they are supposed to be run (or apparantly what their function is) so it makes less than zero sense to poll the players in regard to the third and fourth question.

The only semi valid question there might be the one about the end of 1.0, though I'm not sure what kind of significant data that SE would get from asking it.

I'm sure when SE feels they need to poll the players again, they will, and it won't be under the demands of a player petition on the forum.

I think they should have poll around beta or some sort of ingame feedback system like what GW2 did in their beta weekend, they will bring you to one event and will ask you to rate and comment on it from mechanic, user-friendliness, stories, etc. It will get tiring fast since you will ends up doing alot of it, but i believe that is what beta is for.

This will ensure the one that is giving feedback has actually tried out the content not people that speak out of their nostalgia glasses or pure stigma of WoW-hating.

I'm sorry, you feel unease with the fact of the truth, of the topic at hand.

Most MMO's nowadays have a feedback or polling system released every couple or few months, so they can keep in touch with its player base. Players should be able to state contents they like or dislike about the current direction of the game.

Yes, Yoshi has done a poll of classes/jobs by genre of DoW or DoM but not a poll of the actual classes themselves & what they have selected for us to have in 2.0. Therefore, its time for questions like " Would you (the player) like to see Ninja, Thief, Red Mage, Dark Knight, or Blue Mage?" added along side Arcanist/Summoner.

Another player's poll would keep its player base reeled in & excited in what to expect next as well as a few surprises.

As far as not doing a poll after the ending of 1.0, is like telling a critic who goes to see a movie at the theater that they cant write about it or vote how many stars the movie should have and if that's not done your just pushing away the crowd for failure.

Except they didn't even need to poll us since we freely gave feedback immediately (and the week or so after) after the debut of End of an Era.

They know we were pissed about the constant server DCs. He even apologized live for it. They know we were excited/sad about the events in the trailer.

The rest? Spoilers: It's called Alpha/Beta tester feedback. They're collecting their information from testers atm, which is what they actually need right now instead of some fluff questions to the general public who's only seen ARR via videos.

I'm all for player polls, but just not at this time.

I don't expect the poll to be ready in 24 hrs, a week or a few weeks but I would like to see something once beta goes live or during the beta phases before ARR release. That way the player base has knowledge of what the development team is doing & planning for us once ARR releases or shortly after in a patch.

The pdf's pretty much tell you everything they have planned.

Majority of the pdf's were released with the previous road map then they moved certain ones when ARR website came available. Some of those pdf's we already received in 1.0. I'm ready for this new road map as well as hopefully we will get to see some of this pdf's in model mode.

We're about to get an updated roadmap, and beta is on the near horizon. If you have any meaningful feedback for the dev team and if you aren't already in alpha, then that'd be the time to chime in, but as to actual polls, the first one shouldn't be released until a month or two after retail 2.0 release.
