    Hunting Guild

    I do not recall seeing this suggestion made, but it has probably been made before.



    So the questing discussions initiated by the 5th alpha video got me thinking... why not including the FFXII hunting guild in FFXIV? That way the go kill X amount of Y mobs would be enveloped on a system that makes sense, aside from the "we need resources/the balance is in danger/ourvillage is being attacked by crazed bears" excuse quests, so that could be like "oh, you killed the X I told you? now go to the hunting guild and tell them to level your rank" or something like that, at the starting levels.

    Then, the higher inside rank you get, just make it like FFXII but expanded, hunting NM, rare mobs and so on... doing it in a way that at higher level you'll need parties or even alliances to complete the requests. For some hunting feats those could be made retroactively in a way tat "oh, I see you already killed 1000 cactuars, here your rank", or as quests "go kill Daddy Longlegs", even could be used for challenge modes "go kill longlegs with this level/class restrictions."

    I think it could wrap around all the game's content, be it FATE, instances or just grinding quests, an it would give it a lot more of depth and meaning inside the game universe.

    If it worked well in FFXII, an offline game, I think it would make a lot more sense in a MMO, where hunting is one of the main activities the characters are performing.

    I think it's interesting but it would appear that some type of advantage that it would give the hunting guild is missing. Add that in and the idea is golden.

    Rewards, as in vanity or useful gear, hunting themed, unique dyes, a server ranking of the best hunters in categories, maybe it could have some high-level connections with the grand companies like "your GC asked us to hunt this mob so the Garleans dot get it before us!", decoration items for the housing system... maybe a high level quest line to hunt a mount? Hunting levequests... It would also encourage exploration, as maybe certain mobs would be in dangerous places far away where the normal questing takes place?

    A token-reward system like the GC companies would work really well with this, as well with the different ranking levels... it could be really huge.

    No I meant.... why would the hunting guild exist... what does it get out of giving us cool items and ranks... aside from a ground littered in dead things.

    Ohh I see.

    I guess the point of a hunting guild is to... gather hunters and go kill stuff? I don't remember the premise for the FFXII one, but here could be another way to try motivate the adventurers to go kill stuff and make the land more secure since (all this is speculation) the bahamut awakening the roads and everything has more beasts and more dangerous ones? They could even be a part of the Grand Companies, that aside the military ranking they started offering mob hunting incentives to train their operatives and such... hey that would make a hell lot of sense, since we all adventurers disapeared for 5 years, thy needed to re-create an army to defend the city-states, so they created a hunting guild to attract new adventurers and train them indirectly as they send them hunting, then send them on official GC missions.

    How does this sound?

    Oh I love the idea even if the hunting guild itself would be essentially the same as leve quest just with a different name/mob dificulty/rewards (hunting trophies for housing!). It could even be "faction based" with an individual story line at each faction level (story quests per each rank).

    How about this: when you kill an nm and you have the hunt active, the nm has a 100% drop rate item (that doesn't affect other items) that the hunters need to give to another guild. E.g. the weaver's guild requires Daddy Longlegs spider silk to weave more clothing type armor for the conjourer's guild

    Ohh! So that way you enhance the hunting guild while making it necessary for certain items for gatherers and crafters, making the interconnection much more closer.

    Levequests are somehow this, but the system I'm describing is more complex.
