Elimination of Fishing Off Hand

Does anyone have any information regarding the elimination of fishing off hand? I'm curious as to why they would scrap spearfishing if they intend to keep quarrying and harvesting in the game. If they intend to scrap these two as well, then it's a different matter entirely..

As far as the usefulness of spearfishing, I really only use it myself to get dyes. With the implementation of a dye npc in 2.0, I think this usefulness will be decreased further, but I'm still wondering about the rare colors.

If anyone has any info I would be appreciative.

Spearfishing will be removed, and the existing fishing system will be changed. Tackles and lures designed for the new system will be introduced.

yep all your fishing tackle will be gone and no more spear fishing... though i do think the way or how you gather will be different in ARR from what i recall.. i think you will be able to target what you want to gather ie dyes.

Hmmm... Alright, sounds like this isn't necessarily a detriment to fishing. Thanks for the info. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in 2.0.

Old tackle is gone. They'll be replacing everything new lures and bait. That being said, they've also said that fishing will be the most changed gathering system, so it remains to be seen.

Personally, I'm really excited. Gotta get my fishing on .
