I have been mulling over the Hamlet defense stuff for a bit now, ever since Yoshi-P said something about them being like the F.A.T.E. (Full Active Time Event).
Here's the idea I had about Hamlet defense. If no one defends it then the hamlet falls and is either occupied or destroyed. If occupied, then we need to invade it to recapture. If destroyed then we need to evict them and rebuild. That could be mass content for the crafting classes, rebuild the town! give them more of a purpose than just equipment and personal houses. It would have to be a once a month thing or something like that, not an everyday occurrence.
I know it wouldnt be a simple as that but its a concept or idea that they could or maybe already have tossed around.
What would you guys think?
EDIT: Territory wars. Give GC bonuses for the people enlisted depending on how many hamlets they have or special items for sale using seals depending on how many they have. Also add in taking over beastmen strongholds as an Invasion, sort of the proactive counterpart to he Hamlet Defense.
EDIT 2: I recall hearing that the FC's will be limited to like 120 people or something like that. This would only be viable, in my mind, if FC's were larger and you could build your FC headquarters on/around existing outposts. I dont know how things are going to be handled in ARR compared to 1.0 but my ideas were based around the F.A.T.E. system which was based around the Active Time Events in GW2; open content that anyone could be a part of as long as they were inside the instance radius.
I stick to the idea that this wont be frequent content so that control can be maintained and defense can be organized ahead of time. The GC's that gain the benefits will be the ones from that area, eg Black Shroud = Twin Adders. This will also help to keep some focus on the GC content instead of people abandoning it once they rank out and create a FC.
