[dev1008] JUMPING, easy solution and useful feature.

the player character will perform a jump/hop mainly to overcome small obstacles in his way instead of having to walk around.

Jump is performed easily with a double click on the directional button (up) on the keyboard or pad.

It is easy and it will not waste a extra button on PS3 pad.

    - can not use in battle mode

the jump animation and landing should look realistic and can not be spammed (small delay between jumps)

I have an easier one. Let us assign keys so we can put jump where we want it so it is not gimped by a PS3 pad.

Like the chocobo digging delay in FFXI.

I wouldn't mind a jump as long as you:

    a) Can't SPAM it. Lets not be like WOW where mashing the space bar becomes an obsessive tick rather than an attempt to circumvent obstacles.

    b) Jump a reasonable height. Hop would be a better word for this feature than jump. Let us get over those knee and ankle high walls and put an end the tyranny of the poorly placed rock outcrop.

Note: Mario does not have a reasonable jump height, nor do gnomes or dwarves who practice the craft of war.

However the Lolifels would have to jump a bit higher

While I would prefer a contextual jump and climb for small ledges as many have suggested, what exactly is some individual's problem with 'jump spamming'? How does this detract from the game any more than small clusters of people in the main cities knelt down synthesizing, or people spamming emoticons? These are already present.

Non-contextual jumping would not only be easier to implement (Contextual would require map modification to discern what triggered it and what didn't), and gives players the extra illusion of control and freedom. It's also an extra button for (perhaps simpler) players to hit during downtime - every little bit of visceral feedback helps.

Jump spamming also gives you a quick indication on who to avoid partying with
