Gear Choice - Cobalt vs Heavy Darksteel

I'm debating between keeping my current Cobalt sets or having a linkshell member craft me the Heavy Darksteel pieces and wanted to get other opinions on swapping to them as my primary tanking set.

Yup, just trying to weigh the pros and cons before I drop the gil to outfit my PLD - as far as I can see the Darksteel doesn't give enough in return as what the cobalt does.

the cons are you can't use any PLD skills while wearing them. Heavy Darksteel = suck

You cannot be a PLD while you are wearing heavy darksteel armor.

It's not worth it. Cobalt is cheap, easy to meld, and you already have it. The heavy darksteel armor is just for looks really. You cannot equip it as a PLD or WAR so it serves very little purpose unless you only tank as GLA, and even then, I would still go with cobalt. Especially since the most important piece of cobalt armor for a PLD is the helm, which you cannot equip with HDS armor.
