Does fishing 45 count for DoL in hamlets?

I see people always shouting for DoL needed for hamlet botany/miner, and earlier someone was saying fishing doesn't really count. Is there any truth to this?

Any dol 45+ counts. Just make sure you have the right gear to have 80+ gather stat, and youll do as well as any other. Output and perception are irrelevant in hamlets.

I survived just fine with only 40 gathering...some failures but not a big deal as some make it out to be.
All the runs I did, barring major screw-ups, end up above 60k.

Whoever was shouting was being stupid. I do just fine in hamlets as a fisher, and in fact it's the only class I have that's useful in there. In hamlets, a gathering class is a gathering class. Just be sure you have you Gathering stat above 80 points. It's literally all you need.
