That was the mods translation of it, but Reinheart's translation is rather radically different. According to Reinheart's translation, he never said anything about big plots of land that cost a fortune. He said about building a small house and paying more and more to slowly make it bigger and bigger.Um... I haven't really read Reinheart's translation... but what I recall Yoshi P saying is there will be different sizes of land plots: small, medium, large, and I think he mentioned extra large as well.
You will of course be able to build bigger houses on bigger plots of land.
Of course the prices will be higher, so in the beginning you may want to start with a small piece of land and a small house.
Speculation now: I guess that perhaps implies we can somehow sell or trade up? Or perhaps buy up a ton of property, rent it out, and be property tycoons! ^^;
I know that Reinheart does the English FFXIV community a great service by translating a lot of what happens on the Japanese side.That was the mods translation of it, but Reinheart's translation is rather radically different. But I believe he was translating and adding to the document in real time, and believe me, that is an immensely difficult thing to do while capturing every bit of information and nuance.
Whereas I was simply watching the video and have related what I took away from it after having the luxury of time to respond.
What I wrote above is how I understand what Yoshi P said in the video, and is not based on anyone's translation... again, I do speak Japanese as well.
I believe things are still subject to change so I wouldn't even take Yoshi P's words as set in stone... but that is what he said last night.
Mikita's right I watched the vid again and does say about land size and larger one costing a lot.
Has anyone here played Runescape? I liked the housing there, it let you build dungeons where you could invite people in and let them try to make it threw, just for fun, and you could place your own chest at the end as a reward if you wanted. You had your own crafting room/kitchen/bedroom/diningroom, given some of the rooms were worthless and it wasnt perfect, but the dungeon portion and having my own butler who could bring me building supplies made it really fun. It also had gear storage in your bedroom.
Edit: I also understand building a dungeon in this game in every persons house is crazy, but just using that as an example as something that was fun, if they can do something like that, I would use it.

Since this topic is generally about housing, I just wanted to say I enjoy Skyrim's method of building your own home by gathering and synthing the mats to create the house's framework, rooms, and other extra stuff.
Better than a gil sink, which for some reason a lot of players seem to want.
I would put so... so much gil into a decent housing system, if they could make it fun.
A lot of the housing should be done client side. Obviously, not storage but that would take a lot of stress off of the system. I mean most of the time the only person that sees your house is you.
That sounds like fun. I'm more of the type that would get enjoyment out of collecting and then making whatever needs to be added to the house. But I'm sure otherwise would be more than happy to buy everything. Either way, I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully there's a lot of detail and work that can go into these houses.Since this topic is generally about housing, I just wanted to say I enjoy Skyrim's method of building your own home by gathering and synthing the mats to create the house's framework, rooms, and other extra stuff.

uhm, in skyrim i just put in a lot of money and house was fully upgraded when i got there, it was only used for storage and putting vassals inside.Since this topic is generally about housing, I just wanted to say I enjoy Skyrim's method of building your own home by gathering and synthing the mats to create the house's framework, rooms, and other extra stuff.
