Dated Items - will they go poof?

I'm pretty sure they are just going to remove the recipes so that they cannot be remade in the future. Then they'll simply allow them to gradually disappear as people SB or vendor them.

I sure hope they don't get rid of them. I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I keep a few items just because I'm sort of attached to them. Like my first hauby. Plus, it might be kind of fun to look back at the Dated stuff when it's not available anymore. Kind of like it's Legacy exclusive gear.

We would like to update everyone on “dated” items and recipes.

Currently it is possible to perform synthesis using old recipes even after the recipe revamps, but when A Realm Reborn is launched, players will no longer be able to synthesize things using these old recipes. On top of not being able to synth these older items, “dated” items will be considered “Untradable” items.

You don’t have to worry about your dated items disappearing but make sure to obtain the old items that you’d like to keep on your character before ARR arrives!

We will release a topics article regarding changes in the handling of other items, so be on the lookout for it.

What about old players who left when "Dated" was the regular gear? They'll come back naked? Doesn't make sense..

Anyway, since those dated items share similars models with non dated gear, it won't take much space in the item database.

He doesn't care about anyone else but himself, if it doesn't affect him he sees no point in keeping them.

My current character would be in exactly the position you cite, I haven't got any phat lewt and have no desire to get any, there's no reason my gimpy gear (as he no doubt would describe it) should be deleted and I'm glad SE have stated it won't be.
