If a retailer has 6 copies of 1.0 they could send them back and get 6 copies of 2.0? I'm thinking that makes more sense than asking me to destroy my stocks?

Update: Square Enix has clarified its previous statement: "In anticipation of the upcoming Alpha and Beta tests for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Square Enix, in coordination with our retail partners, has decided to discontinue sales of the current version of Final Fantasy XIV. This move was done to help ensure that new customers who register their copy of Final Fantasy XIV will have full access to the 30-day free trial period prior the servers shutting down to prepare for the Alpha and Beta tests of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn."

always looking for good people.
This is relatively off topic, but I am now curious.
Will those of us who purchased the original FFXIV 1.0, will we be forced to re-purchase 2.0 at the same retail value?
Or will we just get to DL the new client and be happy?

We don't have to buy the 2.0, we just get to DL the new client.

If you want to buy the PS3 version you will be, current players with an active sub will get the download for PC version for free.

FFXIV is the first time he's actually played a video game or just being cynical towards FFXIV for the sake of it, as usual. Everyone knows why it would be worth something some day because of the very reason of game collectors, I mean I surely pay $2000+ for retro game collections so I can sit around and play em all day.
Reality: No I don't, I do so because I collect for keepsake, the same someone would do for XIV 1.0, let alone an unopened CE of a game that no longer exists.
Realism is a tough pill to swallow
