Understanding Piety, ETC.

Hi. I started playing this game again after a long hiatus. They've definitely done wonders since I last played.

I have one thing that I have never quite understood on this game. What exactly do the stats like Piety actually do? I have been playing a GLD and PLD and I just add what I think I need but I don't know what they do. Could someone explain what Piety and the other stats (for the life of me I can't remember them off hand) do. I would like to make a great character and understanding these would really benefit.

STR: Attack Power
DEX: Physical Attack Accuracy/Block Rate/Parry Rate
VIT: Defense/Enhancing Magic/Max HP
INT: Attack Magic Potency
MND: Healing Magic/Magic Accuracy
PIE: Magic Evasion/Enfeebling Magic/Max MP

PIE is not worth gearing for on GLD/PLD.

Super-late, but super-important edit:
I forgot to mention that for each DoW, there are two stats that affect the damage they deal with auto-attacks and weaponskills. This technically applies to DoM too, but nobody melees or weaponskills on those jobs. These stats affect both the class and its associated job, and despite the fact that it's labeled under "Auto-attack", it does indeed affect weaponskill damage as well.

These patch notes list those stats if you scroll down a few page lengths. Look for the "Auto-attack Damage Bonus" section.

Class: Primary stat / Secondary stat
Pugilist: Strength / Intelligence
Gladiator: Strength / Mind
Marauder: Strength / Vitality
Archer: Piety / Dexterity
Lancer: Strength / Piety

Miscellaneous effects:
In patch 1.21, they tied a couple of stats to specific actions as well. Link to patch notes

Gladiator : Flat Blade : Combo bonus now affected by player MND rating.
Archer : Chameleon : Effect now affected by player DEX rating.

I can't wait till all (most) jobs have to worry about all (most) stats again, unlike the 2, maybe 3 we have here. ~_~
