We just did a few of these melee chim burns with PLD WAR DRG DRG MNK MNK MNK WHM. Don't worry about dragon head, it's not important. But have the WAR use Godsbane on ram head and voice of the ram will be disabled.

Update! We have successfully completed this stage of the relic quest line. There is a video on youtube of our group, I'll post it here (I currently can't since I'm at work). You don't have to worry about incapacitating the ram head at all. Pounce from MNK should pretty much keep it stun locked. In the event it does go off, stoneskin and capped HP will save the party from a wipe. Keep in mind Voice of the Ram also inflicts silence, so we typically save benediction in the rare case one does go off.

    Heya!

First let me thank everyone for their contributions here - our LS just did their first attempts at Melee on Chim and it was a lot of fun. Voice of the Ram was a little bit of an issue, but we see ways to avoid that.

What we do seem to be having trouble with are the sandworm "plumes"... what do you find is the best way for melee to avoid those being an issue - especially in the last leg of the fight?

    Thanks!

I'm fairly certain the sandworms are in static positions in chimera's arena. As long as your tank keeps him away from them (or on top of one or whatever) it should be fine.

I could be wrong about this as I usually tank him on a wall for black mages but I'm pretty sure that's correct.

It actually seemed that most pics/vids I've seen with melee they were fighting him right in the middle - seemed to be a space there with no sandworms. I guess we can find out next time we give it a shot. ^_^

The center is safe, the worms circle the outside. Only trouble is the knock back, if your tank can avoid it, or eat the possible hit from a worm during knock back your fine.
