Skirmish, why bother?

I am totally confused on these. I did one with a pick up group and was highly disappointed.
There are like whole linkshells spamming the hell out of this worthless battle. Why not freaking spam dungeons and get gear that is actually worth your time?


I only gathered two key pieces of valuable information on my one run and win: 1. black mages are pointless and you will run out of mp a lot 2. the drops are junk and you'd be better off wasting your time building one of the seven wonders out of legos (at least you'd have a sense of accomplishment)

So what is the point of these skirmishes? What am I not getting?

High-DPS (or in the case of mages, useful stats) weapons that are meldable and/or sellable.

If that sounds like "junk drops", then you're welcome to not do Skirmish.

A decent drop rate? And it is new content, people are burned out on everything else.

It is easier than the dungeons, rewards come by fast and the weapons are overall better than the base crafted weapons and can be melded.
Essentially it gives you pretty good baseline weapons to work with while you do other content.

It also includes weaker versions of the bosses from other content, whereas they are not as powerful and can be defeated faster they do continue using the same attacks and abilities, allowing you to use them as training dolls for those.

Also, it's definitely easy fun.

I agree, time is better spent working on relic. This is just trash content to please the noobs and casuals.

I did it once and it was sort of fun but I don't have time for fun in this game so I'll never be going back!

It's greatest use I think is in training inexperienced tanks and inexperienced linkshells on something that isn't trash mobs that won't make immediate minced meat out of them. A pointless event for some of us but a very valuable one for others.
I think it was a great addition to the game.
