which of these two gearsets?

im not familiar with the mechanics but which of these two gear sets is superior:

one that leaves me with:
349 str
282 pie
366 acc
539 atk
limsa lieutenant trident

or

359 str
246 pie
571 atk
381 acc
same spear

basically giving up some melded gear for GC gear for the bonuses... is it worth it?

+10 STR -36 PIE +32 Attack +15 Accuracy, I'd say the second set is better.

I'd say the first set.

While your acc is lower, less atk power and 1 less STR, I'd opt for having more PIE in your build (I'd be looking for where to get more Piety in both builds in truth).
Your piety is going to affect your auto-attacks, which over time is pretty much what is going to deal out the most damage.
On Ifrit's Harpoon, the stat caps were said to be approximately 350 STR 310 PIE, based upon dps. Going off this, Lieutenant's Trident (an awesome weapon btw, I'm using the same thing) would have slightly higher stats. So while that extra STR would be nice to punch up your STR stat cap, you'd be gimping your PIE and auto-attack damage by so much.

In the end, the choice is yours. Go out into the field and kill a bunch of monsters with either set, kill some NMs with each set, do Ifrit/Moogle with each set, parse, whatever it is you want to do to test it and try. I'd still say the first set. =)

2nd set but swap out one str ring with piety.

Squiggles, would you mind posting the full details of this build? Something strikes me as missing in the composition and it would be a fair be easier to determine the full of your options in the long term if you were to give details rather than press us with an nondescript set of raw stats.
