Thread: FFXIV 2.0 and Weapons?

I think that subhand weapon or throwing weapon slots are underutilized. The game could poses a mechanic where jobs could sub specialize depending on sub-weapon. Like say you could have drgoon lv 50. If you equip a throwing javelins you can quest for weaponskills that are ranged. If you equip a double tipped lance you can quest for weaponskills that are multi hit. Gladiator could have one of those small shields with blades on it and quest for more dd weaponskills which utilize it or go for large tower shields and quest for more defensive abilities.

I think the subspecialization depending on the type of weapon you use goes well with what we were initially sold on with the armory system.

Get rid of the weapon makes your class, gem makes your job system. Go completely with the Gem system. No Gem equipped? Freelancer that can use all class abilities!

That'd be fun. Will it happen? No, but it would be fun.

Personally, I want to see Scythes, dual knives, Whips, maces, guns, Great Katanas and Dual Katanas...

I'd love to take up Reaper :3

How about jobs that uses primary and secondary weapons?

For example:

Staff(Primary) & Book(Secondary)
Necromancer: Staff & Book of the Dead.
Scholar: Wands & Spell Books
