Fyi: Padjal isn't a race in the literal sense as anyone from Hyur to Roegadyn can become a Padjal, plus they're basically protectors of the forest which is why it's very unlikely to see any of them outside of the shroud.

Viera didn't win anything. For the 500th time it was used as an example.

Anyway back to the OP, I still vote Ronso. Probably is the most obvious, non-cute, Race for FFXIV I can think of. But then again, I care more about Lore then I do if my character looks like a schoolgirl.

Most fans of FF like cute/sexy things. that's why i think the Viera are so popular.

If the male mi'quote are sufficiently manly it will fill in a lot of the gap. the Roegadyn are our muscular race. if they fill in the female gap there. i think that can take care of the ronso crowd. otherwise i think it overlaps a bit too much.

I would like to see another animal like race. but not the ronso. mainly because they are also feline in nature. maybe an amphibian based race. I'm also not a huge fan of adding Viera (not that id' complain mind you). I've seen it before and eorzea is its own world. kinda feels like it's eye-candy just to please us pervs. (what cute armor can i put on the bunnygirl!?)

and i think Viera are very very similiar to Miqu'ote race also ;XD

i mean they look almost the same, hm. although i liked fran in FFXII

I'd be in favor of a new race, if anything, rather than just copying an existing race from a different game.

I vote Ronso, Bangaa, Viera, & combinations of the 3!
