LAG!

Is it just me; or has the game suddenly become extremely laggy in the past couple of weeks? even when I'm out of the cities running around I get constant lag. This becomes even more pronounced if I dare to venture anywhere near Ul'dah, the lag is so bad that I literally appear to jump a few yalms every second or so. It's making me not want to play the game as it makes doing things I found fun in the game very tiresome.

FYI i have changed nothing in my system, it just happened one day and hasn't stopped ever since.

Also what is strange, when I first log on the game is smooth, then it starts to lag after a minute or so.
