I don't summoner will happen. If it does, what will they summon? The Primals are out of question, since they are only suppossed to be summoned by companies in 2.0.

I can see pet classes in xiv, but smn? nah.

Primals would be impossible for a single summoner to bring forth purely because of the power that would be involved in enslaving a primal. That being said. There are PLENTY of minor avatar/primal/summons available to the FF world for them to draw upon. So IMO it's very possible. But we will have to see what happens.

Yoshi has already said its in the works for 2.0, primals and summons are 2 different things in this canon. Primals are the big daddys like Garuda, Shiva, Titan, Ifrit etc. Summons are lesser, like Carbuncle.

I for one will welcome out new summoned overlords!

I just wonder how it will play out, if its gonna be a pet type summon, or a big spectacular spell type summon, or something else. I belive theres been hints towards the pet style but haven't seen anything but conjuncture and guesses.

I would suggest you use the search function before posting questions like this, because there are at least 3 other threads on this topic, to my recollection. If you look in Reinheart's translation thread you may have found what you're looking for.

Yes, Summoner is in the works, although probably not anytime soon. Yoshi said, specifically, that things will be split up as such:

    - Primals such as Ifrit, Odin, Garuda, etc. Are too powerful to be allowed to summon from a particular class. However, there will be an item introduced called a 'Primal Card', of which only one per Primal will exist per world. A Free Company has the chance to earn one by defeating a Primal, and will have a period of time (probably ~2 weeks) to use it before it runs out and other Free Companies can earn it.

    - Summoners will have the ability to summon lesser beings such as Carbuncle, Sylph, or Fenrir (no specific summons have been named yet, though)

    - A pet/beastmaster class may be released that can call normal game mobs into its service
