Coeurl Mount Announcement

This thread is dual-purpose.

First, it is to announce to those who haven't seen the Live Letter that we get to have a coeurl mount soon (and to discuss this news)

That said, congratulations Coeurl fans!
I'm glad that Yoshida-san is willing to expand beyond the chocobo, through I do somewhat sympathize with those who feel that chocobos will lose their place as the go-to mount (WoWphobia). As long as the mounts follow the Goobbue pattern of being limited time and having lore around them, I'm a-okay with it.

However... this announcement also leads me to a feeling I can only express with images ... the latest installment in an uphill battle you've probably seen if you've seen my input on mounts in the past.

Chocobos won't lose their place, they'll always be the primary mount with the most focus. Why? Because we're getting Chocobo raising, mounted battles and even having them fight alongside us. I don't recall ever hearing the other mounts having these features.

Just like 1.0 with Chocobos and Goobbues. Goobbues had no additional features and were free while you had to earn your Chocobo through advancement in the Grand Company and you had your choice of barding for them as well.

I will refuse to ride my White Mage Chocobo...so I want more options for mounts! I WANT A HEDGEMOLE MOUNT!!!

If chocobos had better music I would probably be more willing to hop on one XD lol

But on a more serious note, I think that most people that play this game are fans of Final Fantasy in general, so chocobos will always have a special place in our hearts! If anything, they will become even more relevant in 2.0 with more barding options, breeding, fighting and so on.

I think the extra mounts are more for fun. ^^;

Can't wait to see this in game. Coeurl's will make a really cool mount I think. Chocobo will always be the primary but it's nice to switch things up every so often especially if each mount gets their own them music.
