    A better idea for dungeons besides speed run.

    Hello community and Square-Enix,

    I apologize if a subject like this has been touched before, but I could not find it in the search. This is my first time (or I think it is) making a thread to a suggestion for the development team, so I just wanted everyone's input on this.

    The speed run sessions of dungeons I believe hurt the game more than make it a challenge. So far all it does is make people go on cookie cutter setups and don't get to enjoy the dungeon at all. While there are still chances that cookie cutter groups happen, not having speed runs creates less incentive.

    What I believe is the best way to make the 5th chest drop is by performing certain requirements within the dungeon to obtain it. If you can make a requirement to get the 4th chest by killing Marshall after Princess, why can't something similar be applied to Chimera or Mizer's Mistress? Only a quick idea and example, you could do something like "You need to hit Chimera with a pit 5 times to obtain the tier 5 chest.". Players do not want to rush through your content SE, they want to enjoy it. People want to go as jobs they want to be, not one that can be done the fastest.

    I want to enjoy your content SE, Cutter's Cry and Aurum Vale are real fun dungeons and very creative, I don't want to rush through it. Maybe an achievement is nice for speed run, but it shouldn't be the concept of obtaining the best gear.

    Ever since my LS has been able to perform speed runs, I don't enjoy the dungeon like I use to and only think to myself what I said above.

    I would like to hear the community's thoughts about this, rather positive or negative. Again I do apologize if this subject or idea has already been thought of.

    Anything that isn't a speed run! They need to do away with speed runs and make the dungeons tougher and more enjoyable overall so people would love to redo the dungeons.

    Have a dungeon start out at @ 15 minutes and earn time extensions throughout the run. Also, more "split up" parts like Cutter's Cry

    (though the harder one is more speed run ish than the previous version, but the concept is the same, just harder.) Speed runs are a good idea still since it rewards efficiency in a way.

    While the current dungeons are ok.. I would like to see them break the formula. Each dungeon has a 60 min timer with some "poison" and the NPC will warp you after the timer(generic). Each has the same blue portals to open areas and advance(what happened to doors and keys?). Point being, keep the current dungeons but make the next ones different. Speed runs are challenging but it gets boring when every raid in a game is based around the same general objectives.

    I agree with the op. speed runs are not that fun, i prefer taking my time while doing dungeons, as i said in other post having more puzzles like toto rak instead of speed runs is better, maybe they could add more bosses in the dungeons and a final boss, so if you want to finish it quickly you can actually do it but with less chest.

    One thing that i would like the dev team to reconsider is the incapacitation thing we had/have that is no longer a must in boss fights, i would prefer getting a 5th or sixth chest if you incapacitate the boss completly, like getting the head, tail, feet, hands, etc so at the end you need to focus on more stuff in the fights or get an extra chest with a very good drop rate if you incap all sub bosses and final boss.

    Idk they can do a lot of stuff instead of the speed run thing...

    I don't like the idea of speed run too.
    People are so serious about it and lead too lot of drama between player.

    I used to speed run with my LS friend with skype on and I was really sick about it...
    They all too serious and always blame someone that make their speed run fail.

    when the drop rates are 1%, players wanna rush through it. More wins = more "chances"

    I personaly dont like the idea of speed runs as the incentive towards extra loot, IF they are the only means to achieve it

    i would moreso like to see even more optinal conditions (re: princess fight) where you can defeat bosses in alternate harder methods in order to spawn more loot that are not time based

    mixing and matching of course works too, no reason not to have more methods then just 1
