Sorry, I'm don't follow with the problem in calling a duck, a duck; It's just using shorthand.

We all know the game is poorly optimized from a hodgepodge of 1.0 and PS3 era code/limitations/decisions, which effects performance on the engine today, right? If not spaghetti code, what would you prefer to call it?
Whether it is physical code or some "design decision", it's poorly done.

There is no reason the game should have as many clicks as it does on the retainers or, say, Tomestone vendors; thus QoL improvement.

But it's not a duck. They rewrote the engine, and server code; it's new spaghetti code. Spaghetti would have less limitations, I suspect!

The game runs poorly because, I suspect, the new team had very little knowledge how an actual MMO works, therefore didn't know what doesn't work.

I agree that there's just too many clicks for some stuff but that's just the way it's made.

We're in the third expansion and the design philosophy hasn't changed much.

Unfortunate the 'PS3 limitations' are going away because it's an MMO and they need to appeal to a bigger audience so we'll still have consoles limiting what we can do and lower end PCs. By the time PS5 comes out it'll be a low end PC, relatively.

However the new light background for menus has to be my favourite QoL thing in ShB

The Realm Reborn main scenario isn't going to be rewritten they're just going to chop some stuff off. More like a film edit I'd say.

It's not only in game development XD

It always happen (the one leading is changed because +1 doesn't have the same opinion about what is faisible or not, the client changed his mind, new partner is added to the project, change of technology etc.).

For the love of ALL that is holy can ppl stop using the absurd reference to SPAGHETTI CODE! Its enough already. It has nothing to do with the coding. This is in design.

At this point, it's both bad design(see Shadowbringers launch Dark Knight) AND spaghetti code... with a hint of milking FF7 on the side...
