It's still faster with more people.
Not only would I say it's not that much faster (unless you're just bad, or aren't using a chocobo or something), I've found that's usually negated anyway by crowds of people not sticking together and instead splitting up and killing FATEs separately, preventing you from getting credit from a fair amount of them.
