No reason for alts. If I want another race, I'll just buy a fantasia and change. Plus, trying to level a new character without the MSQ would be a major pain.

I dont mind leveling without msq. Pvp, duty finder and deep dungeons are pretty good ways to level. I think they should help with MSQ part for alts. They should implement something to fix that. Like, MSQ is mandatory up to current last quest. If one character finishes it then your other characters shouldn't have to replay it unless you want to. I never understood race changing. A character made is special and I have a reason I made my characters the way they look now. I can understand changing minor details that dont fit your final vision. But completely changing my main? Cant do it.
You wouldn't have to level without the MSQ, though? If you start another character, you're starting over from the beginning of the game. Their progression isn't linked.
(Not trying to convince you, just saying that's not how it works.)
Since you can have all jobs, crafter and gatherers in once single character I dont see point to have an alt however, I kind of miss having characters in different factions like in WoW
Ok, I had it mixed up with leveling a new job on the same character..
Currently aside from main I got 2 that I frequently visit and a few that I get on sometimes if I want to meet up with a few friends who are on yet other data centers than my 2 alts.
1. is on Ragnarok - Chaos and I'd move my main over in a heartbeat if I didn't have friends and a house keeping me on Malboro (besides that Crystal is pretty much allright). ~ I am European so I like having an alt where the majority is in my own timezone for a change.
2. Is on Gungnir - Elemental. I mainly just wanted to be on Elemental if making an alt on JP as I feel like Elemental also has a slight bit more of an English player base (I could be wrong) so while I made the character mainly to hopefully learn a bit of Japanese and of also other Asian cultures (as I have noticed some other Asian based people play there which I totally love as I love to learn new things about countries I don't know a lot about). It is good to also have a bit of a familiar little English community if my brain feels like oof. I am aware that Tonberry and Kujata have a bigger English community, but that is ok since we got the option for world visit and cross world linkshell. + I landed on Gungnir after reading Miko's blog here on the lodestone that kind of was my last push to there. I still like to browse through random lodestone blogs from time to time though.
But I feel like I have enough alts now.
