What's weird is that in FFXI we did get both holidays celebrated in game.

Tbf last year's Little ladies day had the songbirds asking if you were waiting for your senechal (I was all hell yea I amIt's my least favourite seasonal event overall. It wouldn't bother me so much if there happened to be an equivalent seasonal event geared more towards male characters to balance it out. It's a little baffling that there isn't one given that the number of people playing male characters isn't exactly small to begin with.
It's one of the few things I miss about WoW, I suppose. The seasonal events there didn't priortise one gender over the other. Granted, unlike in FFXIV the stories surrounding them didn't really change but even FFXIV is becoming stale on that front in regards to these events as they often end up revolving around similar plot beats.) , which showed that gender didn't really matter for which role and hoped this year they might explore that more(like maybe a small brother is feeling left out but an older sister notices and decides to cheer him up and he thanks her by calling her his seneschal etc) but this event was still cute to help the children out, and I realise that the former might make people too uncomfortable.
I think the boys should have gotten presents too. Even if it's an event about girls, it felt like when some relatives visit and only some of your siblings get a present and not all children. Like sometimes when it's a child's birthday, their siblings get a really small present as well (even if it's just a single piece of candy or so), so that they don't feel excluded. Something like that would have been fair in this case. I mean I haven't seen a seasonal event for boys in FFXIV.
