The many times i survived raidwides bc i use a vercure aer countless lol, especially now in emerald when those darn swords would just barely kill you. Or the knockback. And on many chances it was just enough to life and ress the heals, saving an run.
I agree with everything you said, but this in particular reminded me of something cool.
We had a Copied Factory run where for some reason our group ended up with no healers by the second boss, so our tank who was a PLD said: don't worry, I'll heal! And they actually did a better job at it than the previous healers, I was shocked. Surely enough they will have done very few to no damage, but in such a situation it was really cool.
I've mained WHM since 2014. I'm not offended if someone uses their skills in casual content. If we're getting through stuff and nobody is dying then it's a success in my book. I don't play games with the health of random people. They don't know me. They don't know whether I have things under control or not. I don't worry about keep their health 100% but I keep it high enough they don't have to worry. I don't care that my regen is 0.000000001% overheal on some random parsing program. That matters in Savage and Ultimate.
In casual content, we're there to support the party. We should be doing what's necessary to show them we have their back. If it's SO HARD to push one of those shiny buttons to show through your actions that your party can count on you, then maybe some folks in this thread need to choose a different role. Because your random basic group is going to remember whether you let them down or not and not what your numbers were.
I can't believe this got necro'd twice. I also can't believe neither of the necros was done by Titanman despite him being around for both.
DNC helps with that type of situation as well, as long as everyone is close enough together to all be hit by Curing Waltz. Double heals as long as your dance partner is close enough as well helps tremendously.I agree with everything you said, but this in particular reminded me of something cool.

This OMEGALUL thread again?
ED reaches the cap at a very low percentage.
Or just take the LOWEST possible heal from Benefic 1 and multiply that value by 2.775 (1110 / 400).
So awhile back I was testing my heal amounts(trying to figure out the heal formula which no one has figured out for 71+ yet)
16323 was the lowest Benefic I I could produce.
16323 x 2.775 = 45,296.325 which seems about right.
The maximum benefic I was 17377 for curiosity sake.
1380HP is the lowest I could go from job switching back and forth(I have no jobs under 30 on my main account)
When I tested ED on myself from 1380HP (my max HP is 90522), ED healed me from 45938HP. The math works out to be 0.015lotsofnumbers percent.
When I tested ED on myself from 11% HP, ED healed me fro 41718.
....21% HP, ED healed me for 39,695
....51% HP, ED healed me from 30,563. Compare to one of my higher end Benefic IIs of 30,635.
Am not sure if ED is subject to crits. It is subject to heal amount variance like all other heals(saying damage variance sounds weird in the case of heals, but you get that it's the same principle).
Anyway, ED will always be the strongest heal to use for HP values lower than 50 percent and to get the max potency you have to let a tank get dangerously low.
(These tests were done on a lvl80 480 AST. Thus tenacity is not at play but that stat, like most of the other ones, don't do jack at all anyway. Tank probably needs 2000000000000 tenacity to boost healing by 100 pts >_>).
