    Exchanging rate

So what was the reasoning behind that silly exchange rate where you give 2000 goetia in exchange for 500 phantasmagoria? Its basically the same currency now so why it got devaluate so much? Why its not 1 goetia to 1 phantasmagoria which would be fair?

I guess its me whos slowpoke who didnt spend my capped tomestones but i wanted to save them for new crafting mats, now I will get three times less than planned because of this foolish rate :/

So i know this doesnt help you now, but this is 100% normal. Every time in the history of the game they have retired a currency(tomes, scrips, whatever) the exchange rate has been 4 to 1. Roughly 6 months from now when 5.4 drops they will retire phantasmagoria tomes, switch allegory to uncapped, and introduce something new(say... tomes of prophecy). The same girl in mor dhona will offer to switch out your phanta's for allagories at a 4 to 1 rate. Oh, and that week a few posts like this will appear on the boards from people either upset they can no longer spend the retired tomes, or unhappy with the exchange rate. Elidibus may have had a point.

Yeah okay, I know that this isnt the first time they did it like that but I seriously cant understand why its like this. To urge players to try new content as fast as possible so they can earn new tomes again? To halt progressing of crafting new stuff so it wont be that fast? I just dont understand their reasoning...

I turned in about 1/2 of my goetia for stuff I thought might hold value after the switch. The other 1/2 I saved to convert.

As to the why? All I can guess is its a form of gambling which the Japanese fanbase likes.

If you go into patch day capped on both tomes, you have 2500 to spend on crafting mats without having to run a single piece of content. And you are trading in outdated tomes(440 gear) for less outdated tomes(460 gear), so it doesnt(or shouldnt) affect your ability to earn new tomes(490 gear). You dont need the new crafted gear to run the new normal raids normal trial or the new dungeon. People who were running savage before are likely already geared enough to do the new savage(though a large part of this group will indeed grab some upgrades via crafted to make the new tier easier) and the new ex. Oh, and the system lets people in full pre-made groups ignore the gear requirement anyway(though almost all statics will expect their players to be up to date).
