Ironically enough, modern builds tend to be the most slot heavy out of everything I've ever done or seen done. That's a valid suggestion... provided the person in question wants, or even likes the modern house look for their house. I personally do not. I think modern houses look about as welcoming as hospitals, and just as sterile. It's cool if you or others have a better appreciation of the look than I do, but that's not a cover all solution for everyone unfortunately lol.
We really need more slots!

I could do with like a hundred more slots in my mansion. The basement is kind of open, but the top two floors are good, aside from tabletop items. It sucked at Christmas trying to decide what I could take down in order to put up the trees, put out presents, and other decorations. That was when I was like, we really need more slots.
I dunno I think my cottage is fairly modern but I feel it's far more welcoming than a hospital!
Still I wouldn't say no to an item increase in apartments and houses across the board!
I'd like at least a 10 item increase for outdoor stuff.
I would like more than 100. Double what we currently are allowed would be a dream. ^^;I could do with like a hundred more slots in my mansion. I refuse to remove anything for seasonal decorations anymore. It takes too much effort for me to decide what has to go. I just reserve 1 free slot for one random seasonal item at the time, and that is it.![]()
I have a mansion and refuse to cut off an entire floor so I can just make it looked lived in, so I do what I can with the items I have to make it look homey. That usually means a bit of a minimalist design and nothing too fancy can really be made, but I've made it work.
And fifty more at LEAST for apartments. I know I'm going to have to remove things for those new portraits. ;_;Yoshi-P, honey, you know I have absolutely mad respect for you and the dev team. You put up with a lot of abuse from us, and despite that you hold your heads high and do your level best to churn out all sorts of wonderful content.
This is especially true for your efforts with housing. Furnishings have exploded by leaps and bounds, and I am absolutely thrilled with that. Truly!
But... the increase in available furnishings does present a problem. Too many items we want to use, and not enough slots to use them in. I know we've been asking and asking for this, but I'm going to ask one more time.
Please, please, take a good hard look at increasing our limits? At least a little?
I understand there are system/coding issues, but surely the code, budget, and technology have improved enough we have a little flex by now? And we don't need another straight doubling like we got last time, though that would be nice. We can work with smaller increments over time.
Maybe 50-100 for a small, 100-150 for a medium, and 150-200 for a large?
Just that alone would go a very long ways towards giving us the flex we need to fully enjoy all the wonderful furnishings, new and old, we have.
Thank you,

I've been thinking about this for a while now. Why not just apply the FC personal rooms system to personal houses and remove the one per character limit? Think about it: the system is already there. All they would have to do is attach it. Sure, it doesn't technically increase the slot count for the house, instead it adds another room with its own slots. But it wouldn't require as much of a retrofit to the engine in theory. No need to load more objects all at once, just each individual room as needed. Add on more outdoor furnishings alongside it and voila!
I've personally been tempted to leave my FC and make one with my main and 7 alts to in effect do just that. I'm crazy enough to want to make a house that has everything in it, from a dedicated space for each type of crafting to RP elements such as an arboretum and a bathroom. The only thing stopping me from actually going through with it is that I owe my current FC a lot and don't want to just up and leave them like that.
In the end, though, the furnishing limits - both interior and exterior - are just too low per size. A lot of people I know don't dare buy a small because they know it won't hold enough stuff for what they want to design. Sure, you can get a lot of mileage out of larger items, but the small stuff is what makes a place feel alive, and it adds up fast.
