    Newbie Question about Dungeon Scaling?

I find myself a few levels above the storyline and as a result have gone into dungeons in which I've been scaled down. I understand that my gear scales down, but what happens to those abilities that were gained at levels above the dungeon cap? Do they not work at all? How do you adapt to that? Do you keep a hotbar for various levels with different skills?

you cannot use abilities above the level the dungeon syncs you at. you don't need to keep different hotbars. you just remember how you did stuff at lower levels. It's very easy to go back to the way you used to do things.

some people do not like this, because they feel like it makes them less powerful. but it's done like this to preserve balance.

Blackmage is the only class that even needs to consider multiple bars, all the other classes just build on what you start with

Not liking this, and not because I feel less powerful, because it's boring pushing the 2 same butttons for 20 min.
Let me hit like a wet noodle in Sastacha but with my full rotation, and I'm a happy man. But I understand that would take a lot of work and data analysis from SE to scale potencies as well accordingly.

So just never doing Sastacha, not really a big deal if you ask me.

For it to fairly scale you against a new player, you using your full rotation with all the bells and whistles would have to do basically the same damage as the level 16 guy who only has 2 buttons to press. And for a lot of classes the two buttons the new player has are still buttons the level 80 player needs to press too. Its probly more work then its worth when they can keep potency and scaling the same and just restrict you to actions you could do at the level in question.

I know that and hear you, hence my "But I understand that would take a lot of work and data analysis from SE to scale potencies as well accordingly".

Still sucks all content not 80 becomes a little more boring every expac because of unoptimal and less and less engaging low level rotation.
