We have identified an issue wherein the macro and configuration settings on certain characters were reset after the World merge which took place on Mar. 27, 2012. This is due to the fact that these characters’ internal IDs were changed following the World merge, which in turn prevented certain data stored on the player’s computer, such as macro settings, from being correctly read by them.
The issue is currently being addressed and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available.
It is still possible to manually copy your files saved on your computer to restore macro and configuration settings to its condition before the World merge by following the steps below. However, please note that if you use this method to copy data, you will lose any macro and configuration settings that you created after the World merge was performed.
User data such as macro settings are saved inside\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\user\ and are separated by folder for each character (folders are labeled with 8 letters and numbers).
The creation date on the folder corresponds to the date that character was created. Please use Windows Explorer to find the creation date of the folder, then copy the ‘game,’ ‘ui,’ and ‘mcr*(asterisk is a number) files from the folder which was created before the World merge and replace them with the same files in the corresponding folder which was created after the World merge.
The first 3 numbers and letters in the character folder indicate the World name and the other 5 indicate the character’s name. If you have multiple characters, please find the folders that have the same last 5 letters and numbers and copy over the 3 files mentioned above from the older folder into the newer one.
Please use caution when copying over these data, as accidentally deleting these files may prevent you from restoring your macro and configuration settings.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
