the normal sharks are pretty easily missed but these are also completely harmless and pretty much just ocean props
and there is like 2 dungeons with shark enemies? also a boss is two sharks but they are more like street sharks as in pretty cartoony looking things.

Much like the person in the below post, my wife is absolutely terrified of sharks and WILL NOT go underwater (even in a game).

I guess she'll never try that PS VR game where you go underwater in a shark cage and have a shark stalking you. ;-)

But seriously, as others have said, they are not really noticeable underwater, I can't remember any at least.

What will trouble her are the shark-like creatures you will see later on land you will have to fight sometimes, I think the Tempest has some of them. Plus one of the Shadowbringers dungeons has a dual shark creature boss.

There are parts in the game during Stormblood and Shadowbringers where you have to go swimming, but there is no underwater combat, so OP's wife doesn't have to fight any sharks.

Also, possible Shadowbringers spoilers (Highlight text with mouse to reveal): There is a zone late in Shadowbringers that is underwater themed, and looks like it is underwater (It technically is), but you are in a magical air dome, so you walk move and fight in that zone as if it were dry land, and the enemies are mostly aquatic themed. But otherwise it does look and feel very much like an underwater zone.

Thank you so much for the responses, everyone.

It looks like we still have a while to go before we even unlock Heavensword content. I thought we were wrapping up the ARR quests, but then I found out we still have five major patches worth of additional quests all in ARR.

My wife and I both picked up DNC, so when the time comes for underwater content I will just solo us both through it separately. To her, it is more about the fear of being in the water. Telling her she won't encounter a shark won't help.

Also, I noticed on Instagram that the 5.2 introduced a very terrifying shark mount. I was nervous for days playing with her worrying about how she would react to seeing one for the first time. It happened the other day in Mor Dhona, and she was definitely scared but didn't have a complete panic attack. Wooo!

Thats good to hear. I actually thought about your post when i saw that they were adding that mount(they also added a little minion shark that walks around on 2 feet). Honestly, the underwater portions arent very long or intense. It shouldnt take you too long to do them for her. Id say more, but i know youre avoiding spoilers. For now, its all a long way off. They didnt introduce swimming really until the level 61-70 expansion, so youve got some time before you get there.
