This would be such a cool change, but I suspect we will never see it. With how much the devs talk about spaghetti code, it wouldn't surprise me that if the icon is hard coded into the job, and giving a job 3 icons is something that the engine simply can't handle.
Could possibly be done by making BLU a class and having 3 "hidden" BLU jobs that mimicry swaps between.
Wouldn't that change the hotbar setup though? Its a rabbithole of questions and complications I would imagine, so the devs decided to make it a buff that mimics other roles instead of making it that role outright.
Probably would, although I'd personally be fine with that. Bit of a pain having to manually change my skills and bars when moving roles.
I wish it would. I'm tired of having to re-do all my skills because my tank setup is different from my healer setup is different from my dps setup.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Idk if it is the ideal fix, but I dealt with this by making 2 sets of macros for each role (2 since 1 macro doesn't fit enough lines for all 24 skills). The macro places the abilities where I want them on the hotbar and removes any that don't get replaced by new ones with a different ability.. then you can just load a role-preset in the blue magic book and click the two macros for that role! Took some time to set up, but may be worth the effort if you play BLU regularly.
EDIT: Here is a picture of what I was talking about, in case anyone didn't know how to do this :]
And my own addition to the thread: If BLU can't be a full job, I would love to see it take on a "single player" role in the game. I could tolerate the job as-is if I could complete MSQ as it comes out and do trials/dungeons on my own (w/ some kind of blue mage super echo maybe? and it would be great for learning mechanics on your own w/o worrying about being bad). I love BLU as a concept but it sucks that I can't immerse myself in the story with it.
