Why is glamour shaming still such a huge problem in FF14? Let's fix it in 2020.

That is a first for me as well... not much of it going on... there is of course the 'flex' people that will pay anything for the new stuff that drops form eg treasure hunts and wear it even if it does not really suite the character but that is that.

And honestly I don't mind.

My MaleMoonQote and Lady Roeg got their style of their own I guess... mostly aiming at something would feel comfortable to wear, if anything.

It looks like it was just an assumption. The thread was made around January of 2020, so some players are commenting that it got necro-ed a few times. At the same time, is the issue still relevant?

I am also a bit confused since I haven't really noticed any glamor shaming where I am in Ultros. If anything, I instead get a few compliments on how my Hrothgar looks ... with some playful banter of, "Square. Gimme my hats, dang it!" lol

Judging just from your MCH glam (it's on your lodestone page) you seem to dress normally, people only call out slutglams and sometimes mogshop sets and even then it seems like it's mostly in /tells so you likely wouldn't notice it even if it was happening around you

There's a few sets I have that are less clothed. One pretty much shows his whole chest and back while another uses the Moonfire Trunks and Vest. I am not really relying on the Hrothgar "Racial Speedos", although some friends do get curious how we have such an option by default. It even has a ring for our tail too. But of course ... we currently have a low amount of hats officially still ... I believe Vierra also have that problem. We only have few that are new, are face accessories like glasses or are complete beast costumes from the Mog Station / Holiday events.

Some of my other friends also arrange an optional glamor theme when we do a map party. One keeps making jokes about the free theme being "slut theme" for his character, lol. One other tried to make a "come as you aren't" theme to mess with him. He went with a Victorian look and said he still "failed" to be conservative to the max on the looks. From all of those experiments to change clothing, he hasn't told me of any slut mog shaming directed at him for his female character.

It may also have to do with how strict FF14 is with keeping the community up compared to the other MMO Warcraft I came from. I am sure you guys are used to WoW refugees coming in with a few maybe learning the hard way to behave themselves or crawl back to WoW again. We had more threads there complaining about "Why men always choose female characters" and such. It sometimes ended with the OP being asked if he was hitting on said characters played by other guys without verifying. Other times, the "GIRL" (guy in real life) acronym gets thrown around playfully and ... sometimes gets taken too seriously. There was even one time I was playing the female Blood Elf Mage in a Cata Looking For Raid and I was randomly given one of the tier pieces I needed after we finished a boss. I mean, it was nice that someone helped me out there, but I do hope it was just out of desire to be nice rather than being the "nice guy". Chances are, the latter may have been more possible since this didn't happen like this on my male tauren. I begin to wonder if these particular people do not know how to communicate and should at least ask as well as actually pay attention to what people say.

After all that is said, those Warcraft events I haven't seen much of. Maybe I get some emotes from other Hrothgar players, but it doesn't escalate past that. FC drama did happen for me, but it tends to be because of stubbornness within leadership rather than loot hoarding ones from the Warcraft guilds I had. I won't deny the latter ever happening on FF14, but having crafting options as well as the weekly tomestone cap gear reduces the loot hoarding problem. Which then makes one ask why Blizzard removed their Valor Point gear and let the crafting system fester before Dragonflight if their competitor is using both successfully ... based from their systems ...
