In need of opinions

So recently a moratorium was put in place (at least in Midgardsormr) to stop players from buying plots individually to give FCs the chance to buy them for halls. And through the agony of waiting for the moratorium to hopefully drop I began wishing to myself that I had my own FC to purchase one. Then I began to wonder if that's what I should do, and I've come seeking thoughts about it. Should I begin a FC? I know how much work it would require, however other than school I'm relatively free to be able to run a group of people. Though, I don't know if it's the best option for me.

I currently am in a FC that I love,we treat each other like family. Though I myself do have some gripes about being there. I feel like I'm always being handheld or babied (me being probably one of the youngest members, it makes sense) though even when I ask not to be it continues to go on. As well, I have personal issues with another few members of the FC, which unfortunately simply gives me a slight discomfort being around them. I've only been playing for about a year, my highest level that I actually use (White Mage) is only 66 as of now. I don't have much gil (barely enough to buy one of the plots that were devalued) and I'm not much of a crafter or gatherer yet. I do have a close friend who was willing to help me make and manage one, which I'm thankful for. And I believe I'm charismatic enough to gain more members.

There is an expensive way to cheat the system that many exploited on day one. There may be a time limit involved, not sure... but here's the work around, purchase any plot of land, place house on plot, go to desired plot of land anywhere else and pay to transfer your home to new plot.
That's how all of those individuals got into the sections for fcs only.

There's no specific thing a free company has to be. You decide what you want from it then find others who are looking for the same thing.

How much work will be involved depends on what you want the FC to be. A thriving active FC takes a lot more work than a FC that's simply there as a place for random players to hang out and get FC buffs. Setting up an active workshop can also be a considerable amount of work since it requires having most DoH jobs leveled to make the workshop projects (you can bypass the crafting requirement for airships and submersibles by buying parts of the MB).

If your only reason for starting a FC is to get a house for yourself, you don't need to. The purchase moratorium only applies to houses in wards 19-21. Anyone can buy a house in wards 1-18. I've got a low level alt on Midgardsormr and just found several houses still available in the old Goblet wards. Some are devalued enough that the purchase timer should no longer be an issue.

If you would rather be in one of the other housing districts where the houses are only available in the new wards, you can buy one in Goblet first then relocate. It's going to cost you more but at least you'll get something more to your liking.
