    Newest raids & 1mbps

So... I've noticed with the newest raids (Eden and Copied Factory) that my lag is very intense and very unforgiving, Copied Factory being the worst.

Background: this may sound crazy, but my town doesn't have highspeed internet - technically. But the ISP tries to make do and give us what they can which is between 1 & 3 mbps. Where I'm at, we get 1-2mbps, with 1.0-1.3mbps being the usual. Lived here for ten years, never had too much of an issue playing FFXIV. Some days, there are bad lag spikes because of crappy net on my part, but for the most part I could play pretty much all the normal content from ARR to SB, raids included and still can.

But for Eden, I could barely get through any of them; the teams I was with basically carried my dead booty through. And for Copied Factory, I literally cannot even get passed the first boss. As soon as it starts spitting out those orbs, it's basically game over for me. Doesn't matter how many times I get resurrected (bless you, healers), it just stops. It gets stuck in a frame and that's all I see. I can't even watch the fight because the frame gets stuck. I've tried twice and it was the same thing both times. I ended up leaving party in the middle of the fight because I figured I was just going to be unnecessary dead weight. To be honest, I'm a little concerned that the raids are going to continue to be designed in such a way that they're not lag-friendly...

I heard that the first fight of copied factory was the most unforgiving and that I might be able to get through the other fights OK. Do you think I should try again and forewarn my group I'm probably going to be a dead lump, or should I really not bother 1mbps? (P.S. I'm in a new data server and only have one friend here, so I can't ask "my buddies" to group up with me. Thought about PF but I would rather DF.)

I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.

I say just let them know. If they don't want to have you, ask them for a mercy kick.

How is your mobile phone data speed? Whenever my ISP is acting up I use my phone as a hotspot. Surprisingly, this game eats up very little data so you dont have to worry about running over your limit.

I would ask when you tried to run these? There were some server issues of some sort (maybe DDoS, maybe issues with the servers themselves) the first two days after the weekly reset this week (Tuesday and Wednesday) that a lot of people (though not everyone) were being affected by. massive lag spikes, disconnects, etc. So if you were attempting these on those days, that could be the source of the issue, and I would definitely say try again.

Well, the Eden ones I've run at various points, and I was the only one who was lagging in all but one run. For Copied Factoried, I tried when it first came out (I think that was on a Tuesday?), then tried again over the weekend mmm... late novermber? Like a week ago or so.

That is a very resourceful idea! Unfortunately I don't bother with mobiles (they don't get signal here, have to go into the next town to get signal). So, I have no idea how it would work, but that's a brilliant proposal. xD

I think I'll give another shot when my buddy comes back from his business trip.

I don't know what kind of service you use for internet but you should do a little searching to see if there are WISPs (Wireless ISP) in your area. A lot of times they don't advertise well and I would say most people don't know about them, but there area usually a couple of options in most areas. Also search to see if any are in the towns near you because they may still be able to get you internet. Some use cellular (LTE) technology that you should avoid if you can.

In fairness, it's written on the back of the game's case that you require a high speed internet connection to play this game.

Rendering issues are far worse for me than any connection issue I've ever experienced - sometimes I can't even see mechanics in CF - the orbs are 100% a guessing game for me for the first 2 minutes, I'm sure it's partly due to no SSD but I can't tell if it's something else, don't rly wanna buy an SSD and have the problem still persist lol.

I don't have a SSD, and I don't have this issue. A SSD *might* help you with this problem, but it is by no means required in general to run Factory, and is likely not the primary source of your issue.
