Why do you like this game?

Yes, it's not even actually in the game. Yep, in ESO you get advertisements when you log in, and other games pushing you to look at the cash shop and their "deals" constantly. It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Free to play games are the worse, and buy to play is such a gimmick. Yeah ESO is buy to play, but with the crafting bag and stuff you will also have a sub for that game. I consider that game a sub based game, I won't play it unless I have a sub, and I am sure many others won't either. Just like I consider SWTOR a sub based game still. "Buy to play" and "free to play" are just an excuse for them to try and get away with worse and worse microtransactions, without an actual sub requiring them to actually release content on a regular schedule. In fact those games will usually end up costing the dedicated player MUCH MORE than a subscription based mmorpg, especially FFXIV.

That all you said was what ultimately took me out of that game, that and reading stuff on their forums, seems all ZOS does is take stuff away and people are very unhappy with the game.

Anyway, when it starts feeling "Perfect World-ish" with the pushing the cash shop, I bail out. I stopped blowing money on Perfect World at a good time but Im still ashamed of the amount I spent after getting R9 -.-. I hope the mogstation doesn't get transformed into that because I'll bail out of this game too.

Seems to be an industry wide practice. It's all they do. Ploy after ploy, "limited" trash. WoW does it and is doing it right now too, when their next expansion drops, apparently they are going to remove a desirable mount (highly expensive) mount, so better buy it now! I have a lot to complain about when it comes to SE - viera as usual - but they aren't at that level (yet).

If I booted up ESO right now, I'd probably fine some "SALE" "limited time" for microtransactions (I'm talking in general not the season), or that thing they were doing for subs, sub only sales or whatever. It just feels scummy.

No wonder they do it: players fall for it.

A good example in FFXIV is the fantasia. Some spend obscene quantities of money on that even to change stuff that should be at the aesthetician by default.
