This is actually the precise reason why, with my "Chemist" concept, I was very careful not to call it Chemist. Instead, I called it Medicus. Functionally, it's Chemist just with a different name.I think, chemist aside, a physical healer would be an AMAZING and fresh concept. Even if it had chemist elements, like using items to heal (throwing bombs as their DPS skill, throwing curative tonic magitek sphere technology things as their healing skill, etc.), but it couldn't be called Chemist because Chemist already exists.
That's also completely valid. Personally I don't think Chemist would be interesting as a healer, nor even necessary as a job. I only think it worth considering because the devs may think it "popular" because of exactly the same fad you were discussing.
The OP isn't a defense of adding Chemist at all, just a call for people to put more effort into offering compelling suggestions so, if it's added, it's actually a job instead of a bag of gimmicks.
I think a good way to differentiate is just to make GEO a damage-dealer and then expand on that toolkit from just "spam Stone until Aero runs out". Especially if we can get a Water magic rep that isn't Ninja.Geo sounded a lot like CNJ from what we learn about them in AST quests, so I'm personally not interested in it unless they found a way to differentiate it.
