what can i do as a casual crafter for ishgard restoration?

Gathering is simpler now that you can quick gather. Leveling Botanist first is a good idea since it directly compliments Culinarian and doing Botanist levequests is probably going to level you the fastest. Once you can gather the majority of the materials you'll find the time expense to be justified. Players are overcharging on the Ishgard rebuild gathered mats on the MB at the moment because they know players want to unlock the script rewards as fast as possible so its better to just gather your own materials.

Also make sure to pick up the Botanist quests while leveling since they give you equipment you can use and also give XP in addition to the story.

Do what I'm doing.
I have a lvl 80 FSH, but I needed to level miner and botanist, so I'm doing those level-appropriate Ishgard gathering items until I get to the next set of items, and move on.
I went from 25->50 Miner and 25->35 Botanist with very little time invested, and have tons of mats!


Once you have the mats, you can craft the collectables. I managed to gain 1.5 culinary levels (44->46?) with only like 3-4 turnins.


Easy levels all around if you put your mind to it. Just make sure you use every exp buff you can find for gathering

Current prices are a mix of things being new and others being lazy. As others indicated, you're much better off throwing some time into leveling your gatherer(s) now where you could either sell those goods for a tidy profit and wait things out or just use them yourself.

As a conservative guess, they multiplied leve gains by about 4x. You probably won't need to use them until 30 given the raw boost to gathering itself, but if my taking things from 60 to 70 was any indication post-patch, a set from the NPC should be a guaranteed level and change if you're keeping up each 2 level increment.

Just be ready to do a lot of gathering. Taking a crafter from 73-80, I'd say you're looking at least 55 turn-ins of the level 70 item which will require 2-3 of the new mats x6. If you're having a hard time getting the 2nd tier valuation, that number will go up. If you're really lucky, you'll happen into the FATE and that's pretty much a guaranteed level at that range assuming you participate well enough.

They already ruined crafting by making sure that absolutely everyone will have all crafters lvled to 80 by the end of this event.
I'm sure that they'll do the same for gathering in the next phases when they allow gatherers to contribute.

So don't worry about worry too much about not being able to contribute currently, you will soon be able to contribute and craft the same stuff people who spend days and millions do with minimal effort or gil.

If you don't want to level up mining or buy mats from MB then you will be able to craft the lowest item which only requires Botanist mats.

Howerer if you don't mind that, culinarian is quite easy as you don't need to craft any mats from other Job.

Grand Company dailies for Gathering will net multiple levels up to 70-72. It scales back a bit after that but add in some discovery bonuses (gather everything once - even if you immediately turn around and discard most of it) and just gathering. You can gear now from DoL NPCs and you will have enough stats to push out levels. Find the resource that is 95% gathering rate and use the GP skill that adds 5%, using 50GP. It can be used for extended periods of time. The main problem you face right now is you level out of gear so fast, you might want to buy stuff for the next set and have it in armory before you set out.


Once you have a gathering leveled, you begin to see how cheesy the prices are on the MB. You can have enough stuff to do 100 turn in's inside an hour.

Also make sure to use food or logs from the Grand Company. As you get higher level you can also start doing leves if you are in a hurry to gain levels faster
